By Grace Schamel Age 10
It was a cold rainy night in the town of Grevesville, when Joy Biffmans was lying in bed. That’s when the widow burst open. And there, by the widow stood a man covered in black robes. He came in and grabbed Joy, the Biffmans twelve year old daughter and vanished out the window.
Joy was screaming for her Father, and just like that, the man was gone.
The father, Benjamin, rushed into the room and saw that Joy was gone.
“Lora, come quickly!” shouted Benjamin.
Lora rushed in the room promptly and saw that Joy was gone.
“Oh Benjamin!” screamed Lora, “What do you think could have happened to her?”
“I don’t know,” said Benjamin. “I will get a few men and go search for her right away.
“Last night,” said one of the women from the town sobbing, “I saw a man dressed in black. He took my little boy Jacob, just as he was going to bed also. He took him and then ran out so fast I had no time to say one word.”
Many others said the same thing about their children. Mr. Biffman and many others were gone within half an hour.
“If you admire me, you will not be hurt.” Said Ale the man dressed in black.
“I will worship no other god besides the Lord Jesus Christ.” said Joy.
Ale got fed-up with her words. “Whip her!” said Ale.
But whatever Joy would do, she would not serve that man Ale.
All she did was praise Jesus Christ.
The next day, before Joy awoke, Ale had a meeting with one of his helpers, Zorn.
“Go, when she is still asleep, and take that “Bible”… or whatever it is, so then maybe she will change her mind and serve me.”
“Yes sir,” said Zorn.
Zorn went to get the Bible right away, but when he got there, Joy was awake reading her Bible. He waited patiently for her to go to breakfast. About seven minutes later, she left to go to breakfast. “Here is my chance,” thought Zorn.
Zorn took the Bible to Ale.
“Here is the Bible you wanted me to get,” said Zorn.
“You keep it,” said Ale ,“for a souvenir of………..whatever you want it to be a souvenir of.”
“Ok thanks…. I guess,” Replied Zorn.
Later in the day, Joy came back to where she had slept, and she realized
her Bible was not there. She began to pray.
“Dear Lord, please, who ever took your Word, please give me power to still
stand up for it, and not get angry, just like you wouldn’t get angry. And
Lord, if you could let him or her read it and become one of your children. In
Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.”
A few hours later, Zorn decided to read the book he had stolen. He
had never read such a interesting story book before.
After he read a chapter, he decided to go tell Ale about it. Ale didn’t like what Zorn told him to read… or really what Zorn read to him.
“Burn that Bible!” said Ale when he heard that 1st chapter in Genesis. “And then she will serve me and she’ll never see that thing again!”
The next day Joy was brought to Ale to serve him.
“For once more, will you serve me?” asked Ail.
“Have you not yet seen that I only serve one God?” replied Joy “of course not!”
“Very well then, take her and kill her!!!”
“No!” said Zorn. What she believes is true!”
“Oh, so now you, Zorn, my best friend, believes a stupid thing such as this, well, take Zorn also and kill him.”
“Forgive me Joy,” said Zorn, “I took your Bible. I was on the wrong side
of the…………side. Do you think your God can forgive me of all that I have
done in my life?”
“Yes.” said Joy
“Will you pray with me before it is to late?” said Zorn,” I don’t want to go to hell!”
“Of course I will,” said Joy.
After they were done praying, Joy prayed by herself.
“Dear Lord, thank you for bringing one more child to you. Thank you
for letting me be a good example, and thank you for the life that I lived.
Please give my parents strength while I am away, and please remind them
that they will see me again in another Jerusalem. In Jesus Name, Amen.”
The people picked her up along with Zorn, and threw them into the thick
hot fire.
Joy gasped as she woke up. She looked around and then knew it was all
just a dream. Then she got dressed and went down stairs. Her mother had
already made breakfast Joy, Lora, and Benjamin all sat around the
breakfast table and they ate as Joy told her dream.
“I need to be a better example to my friends, and even enemies.” said
Joy. And from then on, Joy was a better example, and led many other ladies
and men to Christ.
Are YOU a good example?
