“Are you a Good Example?”
By Grace Schamel Age 10 It was a cold rainy night in the town of Grevesville, when Joy Biffmans was lying in bed. That’s when the widow burst open. And there, by the widow stood a man covered in black robes. He came in and grabbed Joy, the Biffmans twelve year old daughter and vanished out the window. Joy was screaming for her Father, and just like that, the man was gone. The father, Benjamin, rushed into the room and saw that Joy was gone. “Lora, come quickly!” shouted Benjamin. Lora rushed in the room promptly and saw that Joy was gone. “Oh Benjamin!” screamed Lora, “What do you think could have happened to her?” “I don’t know,” said Benjamin. “I will get a few men and go search for her right away. “Last night,” said one of the women from the town sobbing, “I saw a man dressed in black. He took my little boy Jacob, just as he was going to bed also. He took him and then ran out so fast I had no time to say one word.” Many others said the same thing about their children. Mr. Biffman and many others were gone within half an hour. “If you admire me, you will not be hurt.” Said Ale the man dressed in black. “I will worship no other god besides the Lord Jesus Christ.” said Joy. Ale got fed-up with her words. “Whip her!” said Ale. But whatever Joy would do, she would not serve that man Ale. All she did was praise Jesus Christ. The next day, before Joy awoke, Ale had a meeting with one of his helpers, Zorn. “Go, when she is still asleep, and take that “Bible”… or whatever it is, so then maybe she will change her mind and serve me.” “Yes sir,” said Zorn. Zorn went to get the Bible right away, but when he got there, Joy was awake reading her Bible. He waited patiently for her to go to breakfast. About seven minutes later, she left to go to breakfast. “Here is my chance,” thought Zorn. Zorn took the Bible to Ale. “Here is the Bible you wanted me to get,” said Zorn. “You keep it,” said Ale ,“for a souvenir of………..whatever you want it to be a souvenir of.” “Ok thanks…. I guess,” Replied Zorn. Later in the day, Joy came back to where she had slept, and she realized her Bible was not there. She began to pray. “Dear Lord, please, who ever took your Word, please give me power to still stand up for it, and not get angry, just like you wouldn’t get angry. And Lord, if you could let him or her read it and become one of your children. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.” A few hours later, Zorn decided to read the book he had stolen. He had never read such a interesting story book before. After he read a chapter, he decided to go tell Ale about it. Ale didn’t like what Zorn told him to read… or really what Zorn read to him. “Burn that Bible!” said Ale when he heard that 1st chapter in Genesis. “And then she will serve me and she’ll never see that thing again!” The next day Joy was brought to Ale to serve him. “For once more, will you serve me?” asked Ail. “Have you not yet seen that I only serve one God?” replied Joy “of course not!” “Very well then, take her and kill her!!!” “No!” said Zorn. What she believes is true!” “Oh, so now you, Zorn, my best friend, believes a stupid thing such as this, well, take Zorn also and kill him.” “Forgive me Joy,” said Zorn, “I took your Bible. I was on the wrong side of the…………side. Do you think your God can forgive me of all that I have done in my life?” “Yes.” said Joy “Will you pray with me before it is to late?” said Zorn,” I don’t want to go to hell!” “Of course I will,” said Joy. After they were done praying, Joy prayed by herself. “Dear Lord, thank you for bringing one more child to you. Thank you for letting me be a good example, and thank you for the life that I lived. Please give my parents strength while I am away, and please remind them that they will see me again in another Jerusalem. In Jesus Name, Amen.” The people picked her up along with Zorn, and threw them into the thick hot fire. Joy gasped as she woke up. She looked around and then knew it was all just a dream. Then she got dressed and went down stairs. Her mother had already made breakfast Joy, Lora, and Benjamin all sat around the breakfast table and they ate as Joy told her dream. “I need to be a better example to my friends, and even enemies.” said Joy. And from then on, Joy was a better example, and led many other ladies and men to Christ. Are YOU a good example? The End Preaching Stars
By Melody Schamel Age 13 Have you ever had the stars preach to you? One night I was looking up at the stars and started thinking of how small the Earth is compared to the universe, how little America is to the world, And how tiny are state is. Then how many people are in the world, and how small of a portion of Christians there are in Colorado compared to the Earth. It made me feel very little. I am only a speck of dirt compared to all the people in the world. Yet Jesus came to die to take away all my sins IF I EXCEPT IT. And almost everything I ask for (as long as it lines up with the Word) He gives to me! For example: about two years ago my family and I were at the Buildings 4 Babies Ranch, David had gotten me a necklace for Christmas and I had put it in my suitcase. One morning I had gone to put it on and it wasn’t there! I looked all over in my suitcase, all over the house, and everywhere I could think of. Next I asked all my siblings if they had seen it but none of them had. I decided to ask God to help me find it before we needed to leave to go Colorado again. The night before we left I pulled out my suitcase to pack and there it was dangling from my suitcase!!! So I went and asked my siblings if they found it and put it there, put none of them had! I’m still not sure how it got there, but all I know is that God as answered my prayer. As long as it is according to Gods will he’ll answer yours too. From down here the stars look very small, and to you my testimony may seem small, but when it happens to you it is just as big as the real size. Every time you get a new sibling, friend, or miracle it’s like adding a new star to your collection. No matter how small you are compared to the rest of the world God still cares for you. Sometimes God can use nature to preach to us some of the best messages. Dios las bendiga! God bless you. Brian’s Mission
By David Schamel age 15 Chapter one Brian, Charity and baby Naomi gave their Dad one last hug, right before he climbed into the car to head to the airport to board a plane headed for China to be a missionary. “Dad why do you have to go?” asked 10 year old Charity. “Well Charity, I feel the Lord has called me to go and minister to the believers there, and I don’t want to be responsible for someone not receiving the Lord because I would not listen.” Brian watched his Dad as he climbed into the car and left, but he never expected that it would be the last time he would see his father. Several years later, Brian was praying quietly out underneath a big pine tree. “What do you have for my life, Lord? I know you have something in store for my life,” whispered Brain in a quiet prayer. Then he heard a rustle in the tree, so he looked up and there was a white dove. He watched the bird for a moment, then it flew off and something that looked like a feather floated down to the ground “that isn’t a feather” Brian said talking to himself with a puzzled tune in his voice. He picked it up. “This looks like a note.” He said as he started to unravel the piece of paper. The paper read “Go to China I have a work for you to do there” Brian was startled “How can this be? I can’t go to china. I don’t have enough money and how I can help anyone, I am not qualified, and there are many people better than me.” Brian sat and thought for a while then got up and slowly walked back home and went to his room. “I miss you, Dad. I wish you were here, I don’t know what to do,” he said as he looked at a picture of his Dad. “What should I do? I don’t have enough money and I am not near as able as many Christians. Is this message from God? And if it is, how could I help anyone, I am not a preacher?” He lay on his bed and looked at the note again. The next day at breakfast Brian told his mom what happened and asked her what she thought about it. “I think it would be a good idea to go talk to the pastor. He is wise and he and your dad were good friends. He should help you decide what you should do,” answered his mother. “That is a good idea. I will head over later this afternoon,” Brian said accepting his mother’s advice. Later that afternoon, he went to visit his pastor. His pastor invited him in and began to talk with him. “So, why have you come to see me today?” “I was praying and asking God what he wanted me to do and while I was praying, I heard something in the tree and when I looked up, there was a white dove, then it took off and a piece of paper fell and said to go to China,” Brian said, explaining what happened to the pastor. “It is very dangerous there if they find out you are a Christian. Somebody might kill you. But if you know you have been called I would listen to the message,” the pastor said warning him. “I was praying about it because I was afraid and then I started reading the Bible and in Second Samuel 22:3 it says ‘The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; thou save me from violence.’ I feel like God was trying to tell me not to be afraid because he will take care of everything.” “Then I will be praying for you,” guaranteed the pastor. “Thank you, I really appreciate it. I will see you later,” Brian said gratefully as he stood up to leave. “I’ll see you later,” replied the pastor. After leaving the pastor’s house, Brian went back home to talk with his mom about what he had decided to do and get ready to go. He was still a little scared and didn’t know where he was going to get the money, but he knew if the Lord had called him there he would take care of his every need. Brian spent the next two weeks praying and fasting about it, and still felt led to go. Fifteen days after Brian got the note, was Brian’s birthday. He was going to be twenty-one. That morning he got up early in the morning and went out to pray again. On his way back he stopped and picked up their mail. There was a letter to him from his lawyer. “I hope I don’t have to go to jury duty,” he said as he started to open the letter. “Praise the Lord!” he said with a lot of excitement. “The Lord provided, through insurance money. I had $5,000 saved till I was 21, thank you Lord!” |
